Sophia Y. Teng
President and Chief Executive Officer
Sophia has over 15 years of experience in investment banking and advisory, in executive positions with firms such as JPMorgan and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, focusing on a variety of products such as mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets, deal origination, structuring and execution, investment selection and fundraising, business development and client management. Sophia has completed numerous transactions representing more than $50 billion in aggregate value.
Over the past ten years, Sophia has accumulated extensive experience with multiple sectors of the Healthcare industry including healthcare services, specialty pharmaceutical and biotechnology, as well as medical device companies. She has worked with companies ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to smaller start-ups both in the public and private markets in the U.S. and abroad, particularly U.K., Canada, China and Israel.
Prior to her healthcare industry focus, Sophia had worked with the global transportation industry, where she executed transactions in the automotive, aerospace and shipping sectors. She advised the owners and management of a prominent Greek family office to take shipping business public on the NYSE.
Sophia was selected as one of five graduating high school seniors nationwide from China to attend an international preparatory boarding school in Hong Kong on a full scholarship. She received dual degrees in four years with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and B.A. Economics from Lafayette College where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude. Sophia also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where she graduated with a concentration in Management.
Sophia serves as an independent advisor to the board and management team of several emerging healthcare businesses. She is a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds. Sophia competed in the NYRR Women’s 10K race in New York’s Central Park. As part of this, she acted as a Mentor and raised funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Team In Training program.
